Fatal McKinney, Texas shooting death of Leonard Ragan and Jackie Ragan – Obituary

Leonard Ragan, 73, and his wife Jackie Ragan, 72, were found dead inside their McKinney home after a welfare check escalated into a police investigation Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers with the McKinney Police Department were asked to visit the residence on Dunster Drive after relatives reported they had been unable to reach the couple for several days. When police entered the home, they discovered Leonard Ragan and Jackie Ragan deceased in the living room.

City officials confirmed that Leonard Ragan previously served as McKinney’s city manager from 2008 until 2010, making the incident particularly impactful for the local community.

During the response, officers encountered the couple’s son, 34-year-old Bryce Ragan, who was inside the home armed with a handgun. Police said a standoff followed, during which officers fired multiple shots, striking Bryce Ragan. He was taken to a nearby hospital, though his condition has not been disclosed.

Investigators believe Leonard Ragan and Jackie Ragan were victims of a double homicide, but a motive has not yet been determined. The case remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the McKinney Police Department.
