Fatal Boyle Heights car crash death of Miriam Marroquin – Obituary

Authorities have identified 60-year-old Miriam Marroquin as the victim of a multi-vehicle collision on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights.

The crash occurred around 5:10 a.m. Sunday, just south of Fourth Street, when a big rig collided with several vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol. At least one car caught fire, prompting a “physical rescue” response from the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Paramedics assessed 15 people at the scene, with 10 individuals transported to nearby hospitals. Some of the injured, suffering moderate injuries, were taken to Adventist Health White Memorial.

The CHP reported that nine vehicles sustained significant front-end damage. It remains unclear whether Marroquin was the person who required the physical rescue. The cause of the crash and whether the big rig was carrying cargo have not yet been determined.
