Authorities in Tazewell County have identified a man who died in a single-vehicle accident on Christmas Eve. The victim was 62-year-old John Stone of Mackinaw.

The Tazewell County Coroner, Charles Hanley, reported that preliminary autopsy results indicate Stone died from multiple blunt force injuries. The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Illinois Route 9, between Davis Lane and Coil Road, involving only Stone’s pickup truck.

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
