Fatal Socorro, Texas shooting death of Jose Avila – Obituary

Jose Avila, 33, was identified by authorities as the man who lost his life in a deadly shooting that took place Saturday night in Socorro, Texas. The incident also left three other individuals injured and in need of medical treatment.

Deputies were called to the scene around 10:04 p.m. in the 10100 block of Cyan Valley after reports of gunfire. When law enforcement arrived, they discovered three people suffering from gunshot wounds. All of the victims were transported to nearby hospitals for care, where Avila later succumbed to his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office initially responded to assist officers from the Socorro Police Department. As the case developed, the investigation was transferred to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.

Officials have not shared details about a suspect, arrests, or what may have led to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
