A deadly pedestrian collision in Henrico has claimed the life of a local woman, authorities confirmed. Police identified the victim as Barbara Ann Jones, 62, who lived in Henrico.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening around 5:55 p.m. at the intersection of Glenside Drive and Inglewood Street. Henrico Police officers arrived to find Jones suffering from critical injuries, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Jones was crossing the northbound lanes of Glenside Drive alongside a man when an approaching Hyundai Santa Fe attempted to slow down. The driver swerved in an effort to avoid the pedestrians but struck Jones during the maneuver.

Police stated that the driver remained at the scene and has been fully cooperative with the ongoing investigation. Henrico Police Crash Team Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
