Herbert B. Thomas, Jr., 67, died along with his two dogs in a house fire late Monday in Randallstown, Maryland.
Baltimore County Fire Department officials reported that firefighters responded at 10:14 p.m. to a blaze at the 3800 block of Cherrybrook Road, finding heavy flames consuming the first floor of the residence. Thomas initially exited the home but returned inside in an attempt to rescue his dogs.
By 10:38 p.m., crews had brought the fire under control. Authorities discovered Thomas and his two dogs deceased inside the home. Investigators determined that the fire was caused by unattended cooking. Officials noted that this marks the fourth fire-related fatality in Baltimore County in 2025 and emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant while cooking.
