Fatal Pompano Beach, Florida car crash deaths of Richard Manuel Alcocer, Miguel Montez, and Ruben Baltazar – Obituary
Richard Manuel Alcocer, 18, Miguel Montez, 16, and Ruben Baltazar, 15, were identified by the Broward Sheriff’s Office as the three teenagers who lost their lives in a devastating two-vehicle crash in Pompano Beach on Monday night. All three victims were students at Blanche Ely High School and died after being transported to the hospital.
The crash happened just before 7 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Federal Highway. Investigators said the teens were traveling southbound in a 2014 white BMW M5 driven by Richard Manuel Alcocer when the vehicle struck the raised concrete median for reasons that remain under investigation.
After hitting the median, the BMW collided with a 2024 Acura Integra that had just turned right from a shopping plaza near Northeast 18th Street. The BMW then slid across the roadway, jumped the curb on the west side of the highway, and crashed into a Broward County Transit bus stop, a concrete light pole, and a tree.
Deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and worked to free the teenagers from the wreckage. All three were taken to Broward Health North, where they were pronounced dead.
Family members and friends described the victims as caring, respectful, and full of life. A memorial was built by the community to honor the teens as loved ones mourn their sudden loss.
Authorities stated that excessive speed by the BMW driver is believed to be a possible contributing factor in the crash. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as officials continue to determine the exact cause.
