Fatal Tonasket, Washington officer-involved shooting death of Samuel A. Mittler – Obituary
Samuel A. Mittler, a 40-year-old resident of Tonasket, was fatally shot in an incident involving law enforcement outside the city, authorities confirmed as part of an ongoing investigation.
The North Central Washington Special Investigations Unit reported that the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and officially identified Mittler. Investigators have completed processing the scene and are analyzing evidence collected from the location. Multiple search warrants have also been executed to obtain additional physical evidence related to the shooting.
Authorities are collaborating with the Washington State Patrol and the U.S. Marshals Service to gather body-worn camera footage from officers present during the incident. The footage will be reviewed as part of the investigation.
In line with state law, a family liaison has been assigned to keep Mittler’s family informed throughout the investigative process. Officials stated that additional details will be released as they become available and appropriate for public disclosure.
