Fatal Columbus, Ohio car crash death of Sherry Bauman – Obituary
Sherry Bauman was killed in a traffic collision on Christmas Eve on the west side of Columbus, near the intersection of Roberts Road and Windflower Road close to Hilliard. Her death has renewed concerns from residents who say the area has a long history of dangerous driving conditions.
Family members explained that the surrounding neighborhood has grown significantly over the years, including new apartment developments, but roadway improvements have not kept pace with the increased traffic volume. They say congestion and speeding have made the intersection increasingly hazardous.
According to Bauman’s daughters, Sherry was on a routine errand to pick up medication when the crash happened. She was attempting to make a left turn onto Roberts Road when her vehicle was struck.
Neighbors echoed the family’s concerns, describing left turns at the intersection as especially risky due to fast-moving traffic. One nearby resident said the tragedy motivated her to take action, prompting her to start a petition urging the city to conduct a formal traffic study.
The petition has gained significant support from the community, with hundreds of signatures collected as residents call for safety changes to prevent further loss of life.
