Fatal Cicero, Illinois shooting death of Angel Dominguez – Obituary

Angel Dominguez, a teenage boy, died after being shot during a violent encounter tied to a social media marketplace meeting Wednesday afternoon in Cicero, Illinois, authorities said.

Officials reported that around 3:20 p.m., two teens arranged to meet in the 1300 block of South 58th Avenue for an online sale. The transaction never occurred, and as the teen who brought the item began to walk away, a third teen allegedly approached and struggled with him over the property.

Police said a relative of the teen who owned the item stepped out of a nearby vehicle during the confrontation and was shot twice by the suspected robber. The relative, who was also armed, returned fire and struck the alleged robber once. The injured relative was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

A short time later, a teen with a gunshot wound arrived at Rush Oak Park Hospital and later died. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Angel Dominguez.

Authorities later announced that another teen, believed to have posed as the buyer in the arranged marketplace deal, was working with Dominguez and has since been charged with armed robbery. The investigation remains ongoing, and police reminded the public that local police stations are designated safe locations for conducting online marketplace exchanges
