Fatal Spartanburg, South Carolina shooting death of Gregario Julian Lizama Tenorio – Obituary

Gregario Julian Lizama Tenorio, 37, was killed in a shooting that occurred early on New Year’s Day outside a convenience store in Spartanburg, South Carolina, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities said officers were dispatched shortly after 1 a.m. to the Spinx convenience store located in the 1500 block of W.O. Ezell Boulevard following reports of gunfire. When police arrived, they found Tenorio lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound and attempted life-saving measures, but he died at the scene. He was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m.

Investigators said Tenorio had been living out of his vehicle at the time of his death. Witness statements indicated that an altercation took place involving two people inside a silver Nissan sedan, including the driver and a rear-seat passenger. During the confrontation, Tenorio reportedly tried to step in and was shot as he approached the vehicle.

The sedan fled the area immediately after the shooting. Later that day, police confirmed that all individuals connected to the incident had been identified. At this time, authorities said no charges have been filed.

Police described the incident as a quickly unfolding situation that escalated into deadly violence within minutes. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Spartanburg Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
