Jesus Romo, 27, was killed early Thursday morning after a vehicle crash that followed a police pursuit in Clovis, according to law enforcement officials. Authorities said the incident unfolded during the early morning hours and remains under active investigation.

Clovis police reported that the crash involved a Ford Mustang driven by 20-year-old Julian Romo. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle around 2:52 a.m. on Llano Estacado Boulevard near Main Street, but the driver allegedly fled eastbound, prompting a pursuit.

Police later lost sight of the vehicle near the intersection of Curry Road G and Curry Road 8. Shortly afterward, officers located the Mustang in a field south of County Road 7 along Curry Road G.

Jesus Romo was found unconscious some distance away from the vehicle. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Plains Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Julian Romo was also found at the scene and taken into custody by police. Investigators did not immediately release further details regarding potential charges.

The Clovis Police Department Major Crash Team and the Ninth Judicial District Major Crimes Unit were called in to assist the Curry County Sheriff’s Office and the New Mexico State Police. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing as they continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
