Fatal Curry County rollover crash death of Jesus Romo – Obituary

A tragic crash claimed the life of 27-year-old Jesus Romo on Thursday after a police pursuit ended in a rollover accident. The incident occurred around 2:52 a.m. when Clovis Police attempted to pull over a black Ford Mustang on Llano Estacado Boulevard near Main Street.

The driver failed to stop and fled eastbound at high speeds, eventually leaving the city limits and heading into rural Curry County. Officers lost sight of the vehicle and ended the chase near the intersection of Curry Road G and Curry Road 8.

A search of the area led to the discovery of the Mustang, which had veered off the road and rolled over, coming to rest in a field south of County Road 7 along Curry Road G. Officers located the driver, 20-year-old Julian Romo, at the crash site, while Jesus Romo was found unconscious in a nearby field.

Emergency responders arrived and transported both men to Plains Regional Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, Jesus was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Clovis Police Department, Curry County Sheriff’s Office, and the New Mexico State Police.
