Jhoan Solano Castillo dies in fatal Luzerne County prison fight

Fatal Luzerne County prison fight death of Jhoan Solano Castillo – Obituary

Jhoan Solano Castillo, 20, of Hazleton, died Wednesday evening following a prison altercation at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

Authorities reported that Castillo was involved in a fight with another inmate on Monday and was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Castillo had been held without bail, facing criminal homicide and conspiracy charges for his alleged involvement in a December shooting in Freeland that left 18-year-old Rafiel Sanz dead and a 15-year-old injured.

He was one of six individuals charged in connection with that deadly shooting. Luzerne County officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal prison fight.
