Fatal Wilkin County, Minnesota shooting death of Jorden Boehm – Obituary
Jorden Boehm, 22, was killed in a shooting shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day in the city of Wolverton, Minnesota, according to the Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they were called to the 1700 block of Minnesota Highway 75 at about 12:39 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, after a report that someone had been shot. When first responders arrived, they found Boehm suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Boehm’s mother later confirmed his identity, stating that he had recently moved to West Fargo after growing up in New Rockford. She said her son was shot in the neck during an incident involving another man who was handling a firearm.
Investigators conducted interviews with witnesses, which led to the arrest of a suspect who was taken into custody at the Wilkin County Detention Center. Authorities said the victim and suspect were known to each other and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
While officials have not formally named the suspect, jail records show that 26-year-old Myron Johanson is being held at the Wilkin County Jail on a pending charge of third-degree murder. The Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed whether Johanson is directly connected to the shooting.
An autopsy will be performed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Boehm’s death continues.
