Authorities in New Bedford are investigating the death of 33-year-old Nicolassa Ventura Colaj, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on New Year’s Eve. Colaj was leaving a church event with her family on Acushnet Avenue shortly after midnight when an SUV struck her.

She was taken to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. The vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene, and authorities have not yet released a description of it.
