Sam Pierson Jr., a 44-year-old pastor, has been identified as the man who died after a tragic accident involving a pickup truck in Hurricane, West Virginia, officials confirmed.

According to Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards, Pierson Jr. was working on his pickup truck when it suddenly fell, trapping him underneath. Emergency responders were alerted immediately after the incident occurred.

Medically trained officers with the Hurricane Police Department arrived at the scene within minutes. Shortly afterward, the Hurricane Fire Department and Putnam County EMS also responded.

Despite rapid emergency assistance, Pierson Jr. had already succumbed to his injuries by the time additional crews arrived.

Pierson Jr. served as a pastor at Grace Church of the Nazarene in South Charleston and was known for his dedication to his congregation and community.

The incident remains under review as authorities continue to gather details surrounding the fatal accident.
