Alex Adalid Melgar-Matheu, 17, was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Slaton, Texas, on Tuesday morning, authorities confirmed.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. near East Division Street and South 7th Street. The Slaton Police Department requested assistance from the Texas Rangers to investigate the shooting.

Melgar-Matheu was pronounced dead at the scene, while 21-year-old Alex Martinez was arrested in connection with the incident. One other individual received treatment for minor injuries.
