El Paso police have confirmed the identity of the victim in the first deadly crash of 2026. The fatal incident occurred on January 1, when a two-vehicle collision took place at the intersection of Gateway North and Sean Hagerty.

The crash involved a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro. Angelique Diaz De Leon, 18, from Northeast El Paso, was a passenger in the Camaro and tragically lost her life. The car was heading east on Sean Hagerty when it was struck by the pickup truck that ran a red light.

The driver of the Camaro, who was identified as Ramirez, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities suspect alcohol may have contributed to the crash and are continuing their investigation.
