On Sunday, December 28, Bryce Alexander Black, 33, tragically lost his life in a scooter crash in North Kuta, Bali. He was traveling with Samantha Baillie, also 33, when their scooter collided with an oncoming car around 4:40 a.m.

Black was pronounced dead at the scene, while Baillie, a mother of two from Central Coast, Australia, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She sustained severe injuries, including a fractured skull, brain bleeding, and damage to her hands, pelvis, and feet. Her injuries have raised concerns about a long and uncertain recovery, with her hands potentially preventing her from working as a hairdresser in the future.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with the medical and recovery costs, already raising $50,000. Baillie’s family, who immediately flew to Bali to be with her, are also facing the challenge of transferring her back to Australia for further treatment.

Police reports indicate the crash occurred when the scooter crossed into the wrong lane while attempting to overtake another vehicle, causing the head-on collision. The car’s driver was unharmed, while a passenger suffered minor injuries. The community continues to offer support as Baillie faces a difficult and lengthy recovery process.
