Fatal Witcherville, Arkansas crash death of Dylan Wagoner – Obituary

Dylan Wagoner, 23, lost his life in a head-on collision in Witcherville, Arkansas, on the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 30, leaving a basketball coach and two teenage passengers injured.

According to reports, Wagoner was driving a 2001 GMC southbound on U.S. Highway 71 when he crossed into the northbound lane to pass other vehicles. At the same time, Jeremy Schopper, a basketball coach for the Greenland School District, was traveling north in a 2015 Dodge and could not avoid the oncoming truck, resulting in the crash.

Schopper’s vehicle ended up in a ditch, and he along with two 16-year-old passengers—one of whom is his daughter—were rushed to local hospitals. Wagoner’s truck rolled over during the collision, and he was ejected. Sebastian County Coroner Kenneth Hobbs confirmed that Wagoner died from blunt force trauma. The incident remains under investigation.

Tiffany Phillips, athletics director at Greenland School District, confirmed that Schopper works as a teacher and coach, while a district spokesperson identified him specifically as a boys’ assistant basketball coach. Greenland Mayor Jim Renfrow said Schopper had been driving home after a game in Mansfield, with his daughter and another player in the car.

Mayor Renfrow added that the girls’ basketball team, traveling in a bus behind the vehicles, witnessed both the accident and subsequent lifesaving efforts. The two teenage passengers were treated for minor injuries and released, while Schopper was moved from a regional medical center to a hospital in Little Rock for further care.

Neither the Arkansas State Police nor Greenland School District had commented at the time of reporting.
