Fatal Austin, Texas shooting death of Isaiah Atkinson – Obituary

Isaiah Atkinson, 18, was killed during a shooting at a New Year’s party in North Austin early Thursday morning. Police responded to reports of gunfire at an event center located at 7801 N. Lamar Blvd., arriving at the scene around 1:28 a.m. and finding Atkinson suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m.

Authorities said the shooting occurred amid a disturbance inside the venue, which sits within a business complex. The person responsible for the shooting has not been identified and remains at large.

Investigators are urging anyone who attended the party or may have captured video or photos of the incident to come forward. Residents and local businesses are also asked to check surveillance footage and social media for relevant information. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
