Fatal Scott shooting death of Lerhonda Carter – Obituary

Two men are in custody following the tragic shooting death of a prominent businesswoman in Scott, Louisiana. Lerhonda Carter, 40, who owned Bliss Cocktail Lounge and The Style Loft in downtown Lafayette, was shot and killed at her home on Delhomme Avenue in Scott.

The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute. James Joseph, 44, the father of Carter’s child, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder for allegedly pulling the trigger. Jessie Alfred Jr., 49, is charged with accessory after the fact of second-degree murder. Joseph is being held without bond at the Lafayette Parish Jail, while Alfred has been released after posting bail.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
