Fatal Las Vegas, Nevada hit-and-run car crash death of Lynessa Gyen Perkins – Obituary

Lynessa Gyen Perkins, a 43-year-old mother of three, was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident along Las Vegas Boulevard, according to her family and local authorities.

Investigators say Perkins was walking northbound in the left travel lane of Las Vegas Boulevard when she was hit by a 2019 Cadillac SUV. The impact threw her onto the roadway, police reported. The driver, later identified as 77-year-old Edward Dias, allegedly left the scene without stopping or rendering aid.

Emergency responders transported Perkins to University Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

Relatives described Perkins as deeply loved and said her death has left the family devastated. Her cousin, Erica McCoy, said the family is struggling to understand why the driver fled and is demanding accountability for what happened. Perkins’ mother, Pam Osmond, echoed those concerns, saying age should not excuse leaving the scene after such a tragedy.

The family is also seeking help with funeral costs, explaining they want to honor Perkins properly without the financial burden falling entirely on loved ones.

At the time of the crash, Perkins was walking her pit bull, Lola. The dog went missing after the incident but was found safe the following day, shaking on a doormat at an apartment complex near the Las Vegas Strip. PAWS Patrol Las Vegas, which assisted in the search, is currently caring for Lola until Perkins’ family arrives.

Family members say Perkins brought warmth and light to those around her, adding that her loss will be felt deeply by everyone who knew her.
