Nickolas Paul Marchioni, 43, was identified by police as the victim in the first deadly traffic accident of the year in Austin, which happened just hours after the new year began. Authorities said the crash took place along the 2400 block of West Ben White Boulevard Service Road.

Emergency crews from Austin-Travis County EMS and the Austin Police Department were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:26 a.m. on Thursday. First responders attempted to save Marchioni’s life before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the wreck.

Investigators stated that Marchioni had been driving a pickup truck pulling a trailer when the vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle crash. Police confirmed he was the sole occupant of the truck at the time, and no other vehicles were involved. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review.
