Fatal Thetford police shooting death of Tony Keeble – Obituary

Tony Keeble, 61, of Thetford, was fatally shot by police after a two-vehicle crash on London Road Sunday evening. Officers responded to the collision around 8:25 p.m. GMT and fired at Mr. Keeble, believing he was armed with a handgun, which he was ordered to drop.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct reported that a non-police firearm was recovered at the scene and found no evidence suggesting the officers breached professional standards. Mr. Keeble was struck twice in the chest and abdomen, and although first aid was administered and paramedics arrived, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed gunshot wounds as the provisional cause of death, with an inquest date yet to be scheduled.
