Albert Ruiz, 55, was fatally shot Sunday in central Phoenix, authorities confirmed.

Phoenix police responded around 5 p.m. to reports of a shooting near 7th Street and Bethany Home Road. Upon arrival, officers found Ruiz suffering from at least one gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The area remained closed for several hours as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police interviewed a potential suspect, who was later released, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
