Allentown, Pennsylvania Man Luis Fargas-Carrion Arrested in Carbon County for Reckless Driving in Fatal Turnpike Crash
FRANKLIN TWP., PENNSYLVANIA — Luis Fargas-Carrion, a 27-year-old resident of Allentown, was arrested in Carbon County in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on New Year’s Day along the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Fargas-Carrion was taken into custody on Thursday following an investigation into the early-morning incident on the northbound Northeast Extension near mile marker 76.2. Authorities say the crash occurred just after 3:25 a.m. when multiple vehicles were stopped on the shoulder of the turnpike.
Police allege that Fargas-Carrion was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound in the left lane when the vehicle swerved onto the shoulder and struck a pedestrian who was outside a disabled vehicle assisting a tow truck. The pedestrian, identified as Luis Carlo of Bethlehem, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fargas-Carrion was transported to a Carbon County detention facility and is currently facing charges related to reckless driving in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
