Crystal S. Gonyier dies in fatal Augusta County, Virginia car crash

Fatal Augusta County, Virginia car crash death of Crystal S. Gonyier – Obituary

Crystal S. Gonyier, 40, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, was killed Friday evening after being struck by an SUV, according to Virginia State Police. The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Jan. 2 in the 2300 block of Tinkling Spring Road.

Authorities reported that Gonyier was walking westbound when she was hit by a 2005 GMC Envoy traveling in the same direction. Fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene, but Gonyier was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.

The driver of the SUV, 45-year-old Deana L. McAuley-Cole of North Chesterfield, was not injured. McAuley-Cole was cited for driving on a suspended license but was not charged with any major violations.

A crash reconstruction team from the Virginia State Police responded to the scene, and the investigation into the circumstances of the fatal collision is ongoing.
