Desmond Cruell dies in fatal Jackson County shooting

Fatal Jackson County shooting death of Desmond Cruell – Obituary

Authorities in Jackson County are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Thursday in the Cagel Branch Community. Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of gunfire.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Desmond Cruell, a resident of Sylva, suffering from several gunshot wounds. Emergency responders attempted to save him as he was rushed to a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during transport.

Investigators later identified Kristopher Alexander Tutt as the suspect in the case. Tutt was taken into custody and formally charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Jackson County detention facility without bond as the investigation continues.

Officials have not released additional details about what led up to the shooting, and the case remains under active investigation.
