Pottawatomie County, Kansas Man Brian J. Lovgren Arrested in Manhattan for Officer-Involved Shooting Incident
MANHATTAN, KANSAS — Brian J. Lovgren, a 38-year-old resident of Manhattan, was arrested in Manhattan in connection with an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Lovgren was taken into custody on Saturday during a response by deputies to reports of gunfire near a residence on Josie Lane. Authorities say the incident occurred on Jan. 3 after deputies were investigating damage caused by gunshots to a nearby shed and garage. While on scene, deputies heard additional gunfire and approached a home in the 8600 block of Josie Lane, where they encountered Lovgren armed with a handgun.
One deputy fired multiple rounds, striking Lovgren. Life-saving measures were provided before he was transported by EMS to a Kansas City hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition. No law enforcement officers were injured.
Lovgren was transported to a Kansas City-area hospital, and the incident remains under investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
