Caldwell, Idaho Man William Sweet Arrested in Boise for Vehicular Manslaughter

BOISE, ID — William Sweet, a 49-year-old resident of Caldwell, was arrested in Boise in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Sunday night.

According to the Boise Police Department, Sweet was taken into custody on Sunday after officers responded to a crash on State Street near 23rd Street. Authorities say Sweet was driving eastbound when his vehicle left the roadway, traveled onto grass and a sidewalk, and struck a male pedestrian before crashing into a front lawn. The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene from his injuries.

Sweet was transported to a local hospital, where police conducted a DUI investigation. He was later booked into the Ada County Jail and is currently facing a charge of vehicular manslaughter following an update by the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office.
