Columbia, South Carolina Man Antoine Mobley Arrested in Richland County for Home Invasion and Attempted Murder
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Antoine Mobley, a 45-year-old resident of Columbia, was arrested in Richland County in connection with a home invasion that led to a deputy-involved shooting.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Mobley was taken into custody on Saturday night after deputies located him barricaded inside a vacant home on the 200 block of Westbridge Road. Authorities say the incident began around 9 p.m. when deputies responded to a reported home invasion on King Arthur Court. Mobley had fled the scene, prompting a K-9 search.
Deputies reported that Mobley refused commands to surrender and made threats to kill deputies and set the house on fire. During the standoff, Mobley allegedly threw a fireball at a K-9 deputy, prompting an officer to fire a single shot. Negotiators later responded, and Mobley was ultimately apprehended with the assistance of a K-9 unit as he attempted to re-enter the home.
Mobley was transported to a local hospital for treatment of dog bite injuries and was not struck by gunfire. He is facing charges including attempted murder, first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary, and breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature. Upon release from the hospital, he will be transferred to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
