Escambia County, Florida Man William White Arrested in Escambia County for Aggravated Assault on a Child
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLA. — William White, a United States Postal Service driver and resident of Florida, was arrested in Escambia County in connection with an alleged incident in which he attempted to strike a 10-year-old child with his vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, White was taken into custody on Wednesday after troopers investigated a Dec. 27 incident near Kingfisher Way and Kingfisher Court. Authorities say the incident occurred after White allegedly delivered a package to the wrong address. When the child retrieved the package to return it to the correct home, White reportedly believed the child was stealing it and drove his USPS vehicle toward the child, running over the child’s scooter.
Investigators said the child escaped into a nearby yard before being struck, while the scooter was hit. Troopers allege White then picked up the scooter, placed it in his vehicle, and later discarded it in a nearby yard after being confronted by a family member.
White was interviewed by investigators and arrested after returning to work. He was transported to the Escambia County Jail and is facing charges of aggravated assault, criminal mischief, and petit theft.
