Keith “Pooter” Porter, a man whose life was taken on New Year’s Eve, was shot and killed in a Northridge apartment complex in the final hour of Dec. 31, 2025.

Porter’s death occurred at the Village Pointe complex, located at 17171 Roscoe Blvd., where an off-duty U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent reportedly fired at him. Authorities have stated the agent responded to what was described as an active shooter situation, though some accounts suggest Porter may have been discharging a firearm into the air.

While the federal and local authorities have not officially released Porter’s full identity, Black Lives Matter Los Angeles and his family have confirmed it and are organizing a community vigil in his memory. The remembrance will take place at the same Village Pointe complex where the fatal shooting occurred.

Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Porter’s death, and details regarding charges or further developments have not yet been made public.
