Rodney Herrington dies in fatal Sumter County, South Carolina stabbing

Fatal Sumter County, South Carolina stabbing death of Rodney Herrington – Obituary

Rodney Herrington, 45, of Sumter County, South Carolina, died Sunday following a stabbing at a local residence. Herrington succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital after the incident.

Authorities reported that the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6 a.m. to a domestic dispute at a home on Bell Road. During the altercation, 26-year-old Akasha Tamia Jones allegedly stabbed Herrington. Alcohol was said to be a factor in the incident.

Jones was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. She is currently being held at the Sumter County Detention Center.

An autopsy for Herrington is scheduled to take place Thursday at MUSC in Charleston. Both the sheriff’s office and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing.
