Sumter, South Carolina Woman Akasha Tamia Jones Arrested in Sumter County for Fatal Stabbing

SUMTER COUNTY, SC — Akasha Tamia Jones, a 26-year-old resident of Sumter County, was arrested in Sumter County in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Sunday morning.

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Jones was taken into custody on Sunday after deputies responded around 6 a.m. to a report of a domestic dispute at a home on Bell Road. Authorities say the incident became physical and resulted in Jones allegedly stabbing 45-year-old Rodney Herrington. Herrington was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Jones was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center, where she remains held. She is facing charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the incident, which remains under investigation.
