Fatal Fitzroy shooting death of Ater Good – Obituary
Ater Good, 16, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Fitzroy, Melbourne, on January 3, 2026. Authorities reported that the teenager was shot shortly after midnight at the intersection of Brunswick Street and King Williams Street and died at the scene despite paramedics’ efforts.
Victoria Police said a silver SUV drove past and fired approximately two shots at Good and another person walking with him. Detective Inspector Brett Meadows described the attack as targeted and urged the unidentified companion to come forward to assist with the investigation. CCTV footage captured the two teenagers walking near the area shortly before the shooting.
Good’s family expressed profound grief in an online fundraiser, calling his loss “unimaginable” and noting that he was deeply loved by family and friends. The family asked for community support to honor his life and provide strength to his siblings. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances and are asking anyone with information or relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
