Fatal Totowa, New Jersey wrong-way crash deaths of Imani Alexis Furman and Albin Fermin – Obituary
Imani Alexis Furman, 24, of Norwich, Connecticut, and 30-year-old Albin Fermin of Newark, New Jersey, were killed early Monday morning in a head-on collision on Interstate 80 West in Totowa Borough, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred around 2:10 a.m. when an SUV carrying Imani Furman, her mother Joanne Furman, 60, and a 2-year-old child was struck by Fermin, who was driving in the wrong direction. Police said Imani Furman and Fermin both died at the scene.
Joanne Furman suffered serious injuries in the crash, while the 2-year-old sustained moderate injuries. Both were transported to a hospital for treatment. Fermin, a Newark firefighter, was also confirmed deceased following the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the wrong-way crash.
