Fatal Madera DUI crash death of Isabella Marlene Nevarez – Obituary

Isabella Marlene Nevarez, 21, was killed in a New Year’s Eve collision on Avenue 13 in Madera.

California Highway Patrol reports that Nevarez was thrown from an SUV that struck the trailer of a Freightliner truck at the intersection of Avenue 13 and Road 23. The Madera County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her death on January 5, while the identity of the second person who died has not yet been released.

Three others were injured, including the 31-year-old SUV driver, who failed to stop at a posted sign and is suspected of driving under the influence. The driver remains hospitalized and is expected to face felony DUI charges once released.

Nevarez, whose maiden name was Villegas, was a graduate of Madera County Independent Academy and a student at Madera Community College.

Her family remembers her as joyful and caring, always bringing warmth to those around her. Funeral arrangements have been set for Thursday, and a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with expenses.
