John Henry Taylor Jr., 63, of Lake Charles, passed away nearly a week after being struck by a vehicle on LA Highway 14. The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. on December 30 near the intersection with Broad Street, according to the Lake Charles Police Department.

Officers responding to the scene found Taylor with serious injuries and provided aid until Acadian Ambulance transported him to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Taylor succumbed to his injuries, the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s office confirmed.

Police stated that toxicology tests were performed on the driver, with results still pending, and no signs of impairment were noted. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
