Fatal Savannah Target parking lot shooting death of Matthew Traywick – Obituary

Matthew Traywick, 30, was killed in a shooting Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of the Target on the 14000 block of Abercorn Street in Savannah. Police responded around 4:10 p.m. and found Traywick suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Tyler Linn, 30, has been arrested in connection with the shooting and faces charges of murder and aggravated assault. Authorities said the incident began following an argument over a parking spot. Linn, a former U.S. Army Specialist who served from 2015 to 2023, remained at the scene after the shooting.

Traywick’s former employer, Vaden Automotive, expressed sorrow over his death, sending condolences to his wife, children, and loved ones. Savannah officials, including Mayor Van Johnson, condemned the incident, emphasizing that disputes should never result in loss of life.
