Fatal Bucks County nursing home explosion death of Patricia Mero – Obituary

Patricia Mero, 66, has been identified as the third victim who died in a devastating explosion at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, just days before Christmas.

The fatal Bucks County nursing home explosion death of Patricia Mero occurred on December 23, when the facility experienced a sudden blast that also killed two others and injured nearly two dozen people. The explosion struck while PECO Energy crews were on site responding to reports of a gas odor at the nursing home on Tower Road in Bristol Township.

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board are examining the incident to determine the cause, which remains under review. Officials reported that some residents and staff were trapped under rubble during the collapse.

Mero’s death adds to the toll from a tragic event that has prompted survivors, including employees, a resident, and a contractor, to file a civil lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that warnings about a gas leak were ignored by PECO Energy, its parent company Exelon, and Saber Healthcare Holdings, the nursing home’s operator, leading to the deadly explosion.

Authorities continue their investigation, and a report on the incident is expected to be released within 30 days.
