Crystal Lynn Murphy, 39, was killed Sunday evening in a confrontation with a security guard in Fort Worth. The incident occurred around 6:06 p.m. on January 5, 2026, in the parking lot of the 2600 block of South Riverside Drive, where emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

Authorities reported that the altercation began when the security guard asked Murphy to leave the property. A verbal dispute escalated, and the guard deployed pepper spray. Police said Murphy then grabbed a weapon described as a “stabbing instrument” and was shot while moving toward the guard.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office confirmed Murphy’s identity. The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
