Jerry Deslatte dies in fatal Vinton single-vehicle crash

Jerry Deslatte, 47, of Port Arthur, and an unidentified passenger were killed Sunday evening when the Chevrolet Silverado Deslatte was driving flipped into a ditch on Louisiana Highway 109 in Vinton. The crash occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. as Deslatte navigated a left-hand curve.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the truck left the roadway, overturned, and ejected both occupants, neither of whom was wearing a seatbelt. Emergency responders pronounced both individuals dead at the scene.

Police collected toxicology samples as part of the ongoing investigation. Troopers are also working to confirm the identity of the passenger and are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Louisiana State Police Troop D at 337-491-2511.
