Fatal South Toms River motorcycle crash death of Kenneth Gerisch – Obituary

Kenneth Gerisch, a 25-year-old resident of Toms River, lost his life following a motorcycle accident that triggered a multi-vehicle collision Monday evening in South Toms River, authorities confirmed.

Police officers were dispatched just before 5:40 p.m. on January 5 to Atlantic City Boulevard near Mathis Plaza after receiving reports of a motorcyclist found unconscious along the shoulder of the road. When officers arrived, emergency personnel were already administering lifesaving measures.

Investigators determined that Gerisch had been riding southbound on Herflicker Boulevard and was approaching the merge onto Atlantic City Boulevard when he lost control of his motorcycle. The bike went down and slid across the centerline into opposing traffic.

As it crossed into the northbound lanes, the motorcycle struck one vehicle and then collided with a second vehicle traveling behind it. Gerisch sustained severe injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Multiple agencies assisted at the crash site, including the Toms River Fire Department, South Toms River First Aid Squad, Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

Police said Gerisch’s family has been notified. The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Dominick Palino, and authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the South Toms River Police Department.
