Fatal Highland Square, Ohio murder-suicide deaths of Sharleen and Robert Kohnke – Obituary

Sharleen Kohnke, 60, and her husband, Robert Kohnke, 39, were found dead Tuesday afternoon in their Highland Square home after a shooting incident. Police arrived at the 200 block of Casterton Avenue around 2:26 p.m. on January 6, 2026, following a welfare check and discovered both had sustained gunshot wounds, dying at the scene.

Investigators reported that Sharleen suffered gunshot wounds to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide, while Robert died from a single gunshot wound to the head, determined to be a suicide. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the couple’s identities.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau or provide anonymous tips through Summit County Crimestoppers. The investigation into the events leading to the deaths remains ongoing.
