Authorities have identified a Columbus man who was killed in a hit-and-run incident while walking on the city’s Northeast Side.

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as Anthony Farmer, 71. Investigators said Anthony Farmer was crossing Cleveland Avenue at the intersection with Eddystone Avenue in a clearly marked crosswalk around 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 5 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound.

According to Columbus police, the driver did not stop after the collision and fled the scene without providing assistance. Emergency responders arrived shortly afterward, and Farmer was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 10:20 p.m.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle involved in the crash. The Columbus Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
