Fatal North Little Rock, Arkansas shooting death of Charles Wigginton – Obituary
Charles Wigginton, 49, was identified as the man who died following a police-involved shooting early Tuesday morning in North Little Rock. Charles Wigginton was shot during an encounter with officers after reports of gunfire in a residential area.
North Little Rock police said officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West “A” Avenue at approximately 5:54 a.m. on January 6 after callers reported a man discharging a shotgun. Upon arrival, officers encountered Wigginton, who was armed with a shotgun, according to authorities.
Police stated that during the confrontation, three officers discharged their service weapons, striking Wigginton. Officers immediately attempted emergency life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident. An investigation into the shooting has been launched by detectives, and the three officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as required by departmental policy.
