Fatal Polk County, North Carolina car crash deaths of Ellis Larue Miller and Brian Kenneth Miller – Obituary
Ellis Larue Miller, a 12-year-old middle school student, and 53-year-old Brian Kenneth Miller of Mill Spring, NC, were killed Sunday in a fiery crash on Highway 108 near Farm Lane in Polk County, North Carolina.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a 2004 Ford F-150 traveling northeast crossed the centerline, ran off the roadway, struck a post, then hit a tree and caught fire. Both the driver and passenger were trapped and died as a result of the collision and the fire.
Polk County Schools confirmed that Ellis Larue Miller attended Polk County Middle School, describing the loss as a devastating tragedy for the school community. Superintendent Todd Murphy offered condolences to the families, classmates, and staff, and said grief counselors and support personnel are available on campus to assist those affected.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
